June 26th 2025

Professor Lucie Cluver, OBE
Professor of Child and Family Social Work, Department of Social Policy & Intervention; Professorial Fellow, Nuffield College

Congratulations to Professor Lucie Cluver, who has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to children’s wellbeing and global public health.

Professor Cluver leads transformative research addressing the wellbeing of children and adolescents in sub‑Saharan Africa. Her collaborations with global agencies—such as UNICEF, WHO, UNDP, UNODC, USAID‑PEPFAR—and her co‑leadership of initiatives like Parenting for Lifelong Health have supported large-scale parenting interventions across continents.

Her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic were particularly noteworthy: her emergency parenting response, endorsed by WHO and UNICEF, reached over 210 million caregivers in 198 countries, supported by clear, evidence-based open-source resources.

“I’m honoured and amazed… every impact… because of an incredible team…,” Professor Cluver reflected.
