At the Accelerate Hub, we are committed to operating in accordance with our values. To this end, we make a very deliberate attempt to prioritise the principles and practices outlined on this page.
“We have been lucky to work for many years with governments across Africa, UN agencies, and donors. They want to help their adolescents to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, but this is a major challenge, with limited fiscal resources and shrinking global aid. The Accelerate Hub aims to meet their needs: to identify what simple combinations of services are cost-effective in improving health, education, employment, and safety.”
Adolescents are experts in their own lives and contexts. Therefore, we engage deeply with Teen Advisory Groups (TAGs) in order to learn about the issues that are important to them and hear how they want to participate in our research. We are committed to the meaningful inclusion of participants at all stages of our research. Read more on Adolescent Engagement.
Enabling adolescents to achieve positive outcomes depends on the capacity of our research to influence policy and programming. This is why stakeholder and policy engagement is an essential part of everything we do and involves all staff and partners, from early career researchers to directors and academic leads.
We are continuously consulting with governments, donors, agencies, and, most importantly, with adolescents themselves to explore their concerns and delve into the questions they would like us to research. Read more about Policy Engagement and Advocacy.
A key ambition of the Accelerate Hub is to build the skills and experience of early career researchers in order to strengthen the research capacity of Development Assistance Committee (DAC) countries, and their ability to develop evidence-based policy. At the same time, we also recognise the wealth of experience and knowledge across all of our partners and actively encourage institutional sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration to nurture an innovative, international research community.
We believe that everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, age, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, or religion, has the right to be protected from all forms of discrimination, harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The Accelerate Hub’s holistic approach to Safeguarding reflects our commitment to this value and ensures that our work is conducted in a manner that avoids causing harm to anyone, above all to those in positions of vulnerability.
In addition to our research, we are committed to maintaining a spotlight on issues surrounding Gender Equality, Partnership Equitability, and Environmental Sustainability throughout the duration of the Accelerate Hub’s activities. These frameworks act as continuous lenses through which we explore and refine our policies, practices, studies, data analysis, and policy engagements. Read our Gender Report.
